This Ten Thirty-One

My mom sent me this pin and I found it quite humorous (and timely).
If you’re like many people my age, you’re probably looking for a Halloween costume, or have been for a while now. Originally, I planned on going as a Wilderness Explorer (think Russell from Up), but then realized the monetary sum of each piece, patch and pin (hence item pictured above), the costume required.
I was momentarily stumped on what to go as, because the logical me has a problem with spending a large amount of money on an outfit/accessories I’ll only wear once and probably end up destroying.
Upon picking my costume, I decided to share some tips to help others save bank and still dress for the occasion, come the 31st.
- Raid the closet (unless you’re currently in it)1 and use what you already own.
- Check out local thrift and bargain stores.
- Get creative and make a costume.
- Shop online at American Work Apparel (lots of options for little money).
- Check out the stuff on clearance at Dickies.com.
I actually bought two costumes today for a grand total of just under $30 (including shipping) !.
So, what am I going as? DADT.
No, but for real, you’ll have to wait and see…
1: gay humor.
